The Annual Eric Miller Memorial Lecture

This Lecture marks an appreciation of Dr Eric J Miller who gave exceptional service to OPUS as a founding Director, long time, and highly active policy adviser until his death in 2002.

The Annual Lecture is held on a Saturday in March, as close as possible to his birth date. It commences at 11.45am, and is currently held at the Ambassadors Hotel, 12 Upper Woburn Place, London, WC1H 0HX. The Lecture formally ends at 2.00 p.m., after which members are cordially invited to join our guests for drinks and snacks until 3.00 p.m. For details of the next lecture, click here.

2004. Shmuel Erlich Ph D.Sigmund Freud Professor of Psychoanalysis and Director, Sigmund Freud Center for Psychoanalytic Study and Research, Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

2005. Paul Hoggett Ph D. Professor of Politics and Director of the Centre for Psycho–Social Studies at the University of West of England. Founding Co- Editor of the OPUS Journal, ‘Organisational & Social Dynamics’.

2006. James Krantz Ph D. an organisational researcher and consultant from New York City. Principal of the Nautilus Consulting Group, who has taught on issues of organisation and management at Yale University and the Wharton School. Currently President-elect of the International Society for the Psychoanalytic Study of Society

2007. Dr Laurence Gould Ph D a former Director and Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Doctoral Program at the City University of New York. Founding Co-Director of the Program in Organisational Development and Consultation at the Sigmund Freud Center of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem; a Board Member and Director of The Socio-Analytic Training Program at The Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR); and, Founding Co-Editor of the OPUS International Journal ‘Organisational & Social Dynamics’.

2008. Dr Anton Obholzer a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst and former chief executive of the Tavistock and Portman Clinics. He was founder of the Tavistock Clinic Consulting to Institutions Workshop, has long standing involvement in the group relations field both in the UK and internationally and is presently a senior member of the Global Strategic Leadership Centre at the Insead Business School in France.

2009. Dr Wesley Carr was for over forty years a priest in the Church of England, serving mostly in Cathedrals. Parallel with much of this work was his association with the Tavistock Institute. As Dean of Westminster he organized many National events, including Diana's funeral and the service for the families of British 9/11 victims. He retired early on health grounds (Parkinson's and throat cancer) but continues to write and consult.

2010. Jean Reed a senior organisational analyst at The Grubb Institute, where she has worked as a member of the professional staff and as a manager for over forty years. She works nationally and internationally in the world of organisational analysis and group relations, and has in-depth experience of action research projects in community settings in the UK and Ireland. She is a faculty member of the Institute’s MA in Organisational Analysis, and contributes to other university programmes and workshops.

2011. Ross Lazar. Ross is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist, consultant and supervisor in private practice in Munich, Germany. After training at the Tavi and at the Marlborough Hospital in the 1970's he moved to Munich, where he became the first child psychotherapist at the Munich Polytechnic's Biederstein Centre for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. In addition he has been actively involved in Group Relations work, and has served as Guest Professor at the University of Vienna and at IFF, the Institute for Research and Further Education of the Alpen-Adria University, Klagenfurt.
