International Listening Post Project

The International Listening Post Project is convened on an annual basis to coincide with the London New Year Listening Post.

The Project was first convened in fifteen countries in January 2004 and now in its fifth year, in January 2008, there are twenty nine countries involved as shown below. The Listening Post Reports for the current year can be accessed by clicking on the links below:

Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Cuba, Denmark, Faroes Islands, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Holland, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, USA. & UK.

On or about an agreed date in January of each year, under the guidance and coordination of OPUS, Listening Posts aimed at providing a snapshot of the societal dynamics of each country at the dawn of the specific year, is held in the different countries around the world. These are all reported in a similar format, researched and analyzed by OPUS personnel, to produce a Global Report.

This Project is proving to be a most interesting piece of social science research. Now that there are several years of Reports to compare it is becoming valuable data that does not appear to be available from other sources. The Project seems to be developing a greater degree of importance as globalization continues to affect societies throughout the world.
