New OPUS Director appointed

The Trustees of OPUS are very pleased to announce the appointment of Sandy Henderson as the new Director of OPUS with effect from 1st August, 2016.

Sandy’s appointment follows Simon Tucker’s decision to stand down as OPUS Director in October 2015, and the Trustees’ appointment of his predecessor, Lionel Stapley, to resume the role on an interim basis until a suitable replacement could be found.

Sandy is an OPUS Associate and is a Coach and HR Consultant working with group dynamics, leadership development and culture change. He has an MA in Consulting and Leading in Organisations from the Tavistock Centre as well as certificates in Counselling and Executive Coaching. He is also a former employment law partner in an international law firm.

Steve Oram, OPUS Chairman, said ‘The Trustees are delighted that Sandy has agreed to become Director of OPUS and we look forward to working with him to progress and develop OPUS and to build on the enormous progress made by Lionel Stapley over very many years. We are especially grateful to Lionel for agreeing to step in and keep OPUS running whilst we found a successor. Lionel will remain on the OPUS board as Policy Adviser and we are very pleased we shall continue to have the benefit of his extensive experience and advice’.

Sandy Henderson said ‘I am delighted to take on this role, and honoured to follow in the distinguished footsteps of my predecessors. I want to build on OPUS’s proud tradition, not just as a container for new thinking about society and organisations but also as a fair society in microcosm where everyone who is interested in socio-analytic ideas can meet, make a contribution, and find a home’.
